Form 1098-T Information
Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement) is an IRS tax document used to determine your eligibility for federal education tax credits, such as the American Opportunity Tax Credit or Lifetime Learning Credit.
Students will receive an email each year inviting them to view their Form 1098-T, which will be available through the Nelnet portal by January 31. Students who do not view their forms electronically will be sent a Form 1098-T by mail.
If you require supplemental information for Form 1098-T, visit Nelnet to view account history, transactions and/or statements. Please note that you may need to print several bills to view the entire year’s activity from January 1 to December 31.
The 1098-T is informational only. You are not required to attach it to your tax return, but can use the figures on it when filling out your taxes to potentially lower your tax bill.
