Adjunct Instructor (Epidemiology/Biology)

The Health Science and Biology Programs at Seton Hill University are hiring an adjunct faculty to teach Epidemiology Spring terms, beginning Spring 2025.  Additional adjunct work may be available based upon applicants’ area of expertise and student need.   

BACKGROUND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION: Master’s Degree or higher in epidemiology, public health, biology or similarly related field.  Previous teaching experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching a 3-credit Epidemiology course during the Spring 2025 term.  The preferred format is in-person, however, online instruction could be considered.

Assistant Professor, Business (Economics/Finance)

The School of Business and Technology at Seton Hill University invites qualified candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor of Economics faculty position with a specialty in Finance to begin August 2025. The applicant must hold a graduate degree in Economics/Finance and any one of the professional certifications (CFP, CFS, CGFM, CIIA, CPWA, CFA, CIA, etc) would be considered a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in FinTech and/or related field technology. A doctorate in economics or finance would be preferred.

We are seeking a candidate passionate about teaching that prepares students for future careers in economics and finance. Teaching assignments include in-class and online courses in economics and finance at the graduate (MBA) and undergraduate economics and finance levels. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and program development, advising, outcomes assessment, scholarship, and service activities.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field by the start date.
  • Certifications: Certifications in software development, data science, or AI (such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer, or Google Professional Data Engineer) are highly preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in college-level teaching is preferred. Industry experience in software development, data science, AI, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Ability to teach a wide range of computer science topics and engage with advanced topics in the candidate’s area of specialization.

  • Experience: Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred. Relevant industry experience in cybersecurity, especially in penetration testing, network security, or secure software engineering, is highly desirable.

Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

The School of Natural and Health Sciences at Seton Hill University currently invites applications for an assistant professor of exercise science. This position is a full-time, 10-month faculty appointment that will begin in January or August 2025, depending on applicant availability.  The Department of Exercise Science is seeking an individual to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities in accordance with the University and Department policies and procedures, and CoAES standards.  The undergraduate exercise science program leads to entry level careers in exercise and sport science, as well as supports entry into various graduate programs following graduation. The program prioritizes experiential learning through active learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Primary duties are to teach courses at the undergraduate level and provide quality academic advising within a CAAHEP (CoAES) accredited undergraduate exercise science program, pursue scholarly activity and professional development, and participate in service to the program and university.  Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of exercise science courses, such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Evidence Based Practice, and Exercise Leadership.   

Position requirements include:

  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field; ABD will be considered with completion date within 1 year of hiring
  • Professional-level certification(s), such as ACSM EP, CEP or NSCA-CSCS, or the ability to obtain such certification(s) upon hire
  • Ability to teach an undergraduate population from a diversity of backgrounds
  • Passion for mentoring students through professional development
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activity
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Seton Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Philosophy, housed in the School of Humanities and linked to programs in Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theology. Appointment is to begin in August 2025. 

The faculty member will teach a range of courses in undergraduate Philosophy within a Continental framework. Seton Hill University offers a minor in Philosophy, and all students are required to study Philosophy as part of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Seton Hill University Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics invites applications for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.  Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience.  Candidates must possess a dental degree DMD/DDS; must have completed post-graduate education in orthodontics from an ADA CODA graduate program, and must have, or be eligible for a dental license in the State of Pennsylvania before hired. Pennsylvania does not offer a restricted temporary faculty license for our program. ABO certification, master’s degree, and experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice are desirable. Responsibilities are mainly teaching (didactic and clinical supervision of residents), but may also include research, administrative duties, and service. All duties are at the graduate level since there is no pre-doctoral program.  The salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and credentials. Assistant Professor of Political Science

Seton Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Political Science, housed in the School of Humanities and linked to programs in Political Science, Global Studies, and Pre-Law/Legal Studies. Appointment is to begin in August 2025.

The faculty member will teach a range of courses in Political Science, particularly focused on American Government, Political Theory, and Legal Studies, also considering candidates with a focus in Comparative Politics or International Relations. Seton Hill’s Political Science program offers majors in Political Science, Political Science-Pre-law, and Global Studies (specializations in Human Rights, Environment, and Development Studies). All SHU students are also required to take course work in the Social Sciences as part of the Liberal Arts curriculum, and the desired candidate will teach across the Liberal Arts.

The Community Music Program at Seton Hill University is hiring qualified instructors to teach private music lessons in cello and voice.  

MISSION STATEMENT: The Community Music Program is designed to develop the musicianship of children and adults in the local area. The faculty, staff and facilities of Seton Hill University provide a comprehensive program for students wishing to advance their musical training and performance through quality musical instruction.

Students who are just beginning or those who have studied for many years can benefit from the knowledge and experience of a professional faculty member. The focus of our program is serious and thorough study, as well as personal growth through music. Instructors maintain their own schedule and lessons are held at the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center in Downtown Greensburg.  

BACKGROUND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR POSITION: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in music education or performance preferred. (Extensive performance or teaching experience also considered).  Strong time-management and communication skills. Advanced performance skills on major instrument.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching weekly one-on-one private music lessons to develop the student’s instrumental technique, performance ability, and basic skills including but not limited to scales and chords, proper fingerings and posture, and learning appropriate literature for the student’s age and ability. Instructors will be responsible for communicating schedules with student or student’s parent/guardian on a regular basis, documenting lesson dates and times, entering time into the payroll software, requesting teaching space through the appropriate method, encouraging and preparing students to perform in fall and spring recitals, and providing feedback and periodic evaluations to the student on their progress.  Students who request to begin lessons are assigned by the Director in a fair and balanced manner with consideration given to the student's goals, needs, and availability.
