Art Therapy MA Scholarship Opportunity
Scholarship Support for Incoming Students Dedicated to Addressing Gaps in Mental Health Services
Seton Hill University is committed to preparing compassionate, skilled art therapists who can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities. Through our Master of Arts in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling Program, students develop the knowledge, clinical skills, and supervised experience necessary to serve diverse populations in a variety of mental health settings.
To support this mission and expand access to the art therapy profession, Seton Hill University offers a limited number of partial tuition scholarships to incoming graduate students who demonstrate a commitment to addressing gaps in mental health services and serving their communities.
Scholarship Details
Each year, two students may be awarded a $21,000 Graduate Art Therapy Partial Tuition Scholarship, distributed over three years of study.
The scholarship is available to eligible incoming students entering through the program's January and August start dates.
Scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to the Seton Hill community by completing one service project annually in collaboration with the Art Therapy Program Director. Projects may include studio organization, special program initiatives, community partnerships, or other activities that support the program, University, and fellow students.
Please note: Seton Hill University alumni are not eligible for this scholarship due to their separate tuition status.
How to Apply
Interested students must complete their application for admission to Seton Hill University's Master of Arts in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling Program and submit a separate scholarship essay for consideration.
Applicants should prepare a 1–1.5-page essay addressing the following two topics:
1. Bridging Gaps in Mental Health Services
Access to quality mental health services remains a challenge for many underserved communities. Describe your understanding of these disparities and explain how you hope to use your education and future career as an art therapist to help address these gaps.
2. Commitment to Service
Seton Hill University's four pillars—Welcoming Community, Learning Community, Celebrating Community, and Serving Community—reflect the University's longstanding commitment to service and community engagement.
Inspired by the University's founders, the Sisters of Charity, scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to the Art Therapy Program and broader University community through annual service projects.
Describe how you envision contributing your time, talents, and skills to support the program, your fellow students, and the Seton Hill community during your graduate studies.
