Seton Hill’s Youth Swing Band Will Perform at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s Production of “The Nutcracker”

Youth Swing Band Composed of Auditioned High School Students

The Community Arts Program at Seton Hill University is proud to announce that the Seton Hill University Youth Swing Band will perform at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts before the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s 7 p.m. production of “The Nutcracker” on Friday, December 23rd, 2016. Directed by Seton Hill University Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Music Education Program John Seybert, Ph.D., with assistance from private music educator Jim Sheppard, the Youth Swing Band is made up of auditioned high school students from Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties and performs music from Jazz’s Swing Era. 

The Swing Band has been invited to perform in the Benedum Center’s lobby for 30 minutes prior to the performance and during intermission. Joining the group for this performance are guest artists Vince Adams of Irwin, a retired United States Marine Corps musician and private music educator, and Justin Bendel of Brentwood, a music educator at Seton Hill University, Fox Chapel School District and South Fayette Area School District.
