Seton Hill U. Theatre presents “Moving Pictures”-An Original Dance Theatre Creation 12/4-12/5

Seton Hill University’s Theatre and Dance Program will present “Moving Pictures,” an original student dance theatre creation from December 4 and 5. Performances: December 4, 7 p.m.; December 5, 2 p.m.

The students performing in the concert shaped the direction of the event, choosing the music and taking an active role in the creative vision. The 2010 fall dance concert is composed of selections which were inspired by popular movies. Concert pieces incorporate different styles of dance, including hip-hop, lyrical and musical theatre. Students with varying levels of dance experience, from beginner to advanced, will participate in the concert.

The Seton Hill student cast of “Moving Pictures” includes Chelsea Bloam of St. Mary’s, Pa., Meghan Edge of Pittsburgh, Pa., Katie Hicks of Oil City, Pa., Elisa Kostelnik of North Huntingdon, Pa., Kelly Lowery of North Huntingdon, Pa, Matthew Mlynarski of Lower Burrell, Pa., Alyssa Oliverio of Belmont, W.Va., Kaleb Oswald of Connellsville, Pa., Benjamin Otto of Mt. Holly Springs, Pa.

The Seton Hill student technical staff includes Jeannette Lundell of Sewickley, Pa. as student choreographer,

“Moving Pictures” is choreographed by TaMara Swank, assistant professor of theatre.

Seton Hill University technical staff for the production include Ken Clothier, assistant professor, theatre, technical director, sound designer, and lighting designer, Karen Glass, assistant professor, theatre, scenic designer, and Susan O’Neil, instructor, theatre, costume director.

Seton Hill University’s Performing Arts Center is 73,000 square feet of everything a performing arts major needs to move from student to professional. The Center houses two dedicated, flexible performance spaces, the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall and the William Granger Ryan Theatre. The Center also includes a performance studio, new classrooms, rehearsal rooms and technical areas that include the best equipment for learning and performing, from Steinway pianos to the latest in lighting, sound, video and acoustics. The Seton Hill University Theatre and Dance Program has a long history of educating performing arts majors for professional careers while playing a vital role in the educational life of the campus. Seton Hill’s Theatre and Dance Program offers four full-length productions (as well as a number of shorter works) and one dance production each year that generate audiences of over 3,500 and speak to topics addressed in courses across Seton Hill’s curriculum.
